THE HOMECOMING is based on the original novel that was the basis for the CBS TV movie that launched “The Waltons” television series. While the familiar characters remain the same, many of the names were changed for copyright reasons.
THE HOMECOMING tells the story of young teen Clay-Boy Spencer whose father is late arriving home on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1933. While his seven brothers and sisters, mother and grandparents keep vigil, the young man goes in search of his father. Along the way, he experiences a series of hazardous, touching and hilarious adventures that include a sheriff, a general store owner, a “Robin Hood” bandit, an African American preacher, and two elderly lady bootleggers.
