Theatre for Youth by Youth

The Theatre for Youth by Youth (TYY) project is a program which places High School students in the leadership roles for a small Children’s Theatre production. Students will be selected via application for all positions such as Director, Technical Director, and Stage Manager and will be mentored by experienced adults. Students selected for each position will begin with the first show of the TGRC season as apprentices to the show staff, shadowing and learning details of the job.

The apprenticeship will begin the first week in August and will continue through mid-October. Following the first show, there will be periodic meetings held to make plans for the TYY production. The production period will begin in January, and will include auditions, rehearsals, and performances. Students will lead all aspects of the production, with the mentors providing guidance as needed. The TYY show performances will be in March. This is a significant commitment and the final product will reflect on the professionalism of TGRC! We have the confidence that not only will this program be a success, but that the learning experience will serve you well in college and other endeavors you choose to pursue.

If interested, please complete and return the attached application by July 1, 2017.
