Ghostchasers Rockingham Community College
Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium Wentworth, NC
Director: Tony Hummel

Put in a call for the
Ghostchasers! An electrical storm forces Harriet Hollyhock's
plane to land in Hangtown. What better time to visit her famous
cousin, Dr. Horace Roy, who operates an asylum for extremely
nervous patients? At the asylum things are hysterical. An
earthquake jolt has freed a poltergeist, and it's creating
dangerous mischief. What can Harriet suggest? Call the
Ghostchasers! The Ghostchasers are led by Honcho, who is loaded
with an arsenal of kooky weapons. If the nasty ghost wasn't
trouble enough, the patients have locked up the staff, and no
one can tell who's who. |

Rumplestiltskin
Rockingham Community College
Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium Wentworth, NC
Director: Deborah Davies
The children enter
the room or theatre. Glady, the clown, helps seat them around
the "set," which consists of a large box and two chairs. The
theatre is sectioned off, and the children assigned "roles" in
the play. Some are sheep, cows, woodchoppers or townspeople, who
respond to various cues during the play. Other children are
selected to take part in the action of the play itself. And then
RUMPELSTILTSKIN begins! From beginning to end, they are not only
entertained as an audience, but become personally involved as
they play out their various roles. The magic created is
incredible! |

Main Stage - Musical
Sanders Family Christmas
Rockingham Community College
Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium Wentworth, NC
Director: Stephen Hale
In this sequel
to the ever popular New York hit Smoke on the Mountain, the
Sanders family returns to Mount Pleasant, NC, home of the Mount
Pleasant Pickle Factory. It's Christmas Eve, 1941. Reverend
Oglethorpe has invited them to the Baptist Church to sing and
witness, getting the congregation into the down home holiday
spirit before the boys, including one of the Sanders' own, are
shipped off to World War II. More than two dozen Christmas
carols, many of them vintage hymns, and hilarious yuletide
stories from the more or less devote Sanders family keep the
audience laughing, clapping and singing along with bluegrass
Christmas favorites. Richly entertaining, this wildly infections
musical brings cheer to audiences eager to see how their friends
from Smoke on the Mountain have been getting along. |

Steel Magnolias
Rockingham Community College
Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium
Wentworth, NC
Director: Jon Young
The action is set
in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the
ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by
her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not
she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy
dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich
curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I'm not crazy, I've just been in a bad
mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee,
who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader,
M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is
about to marry a "good ole boy." Filled with hilarious repartee
and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal
collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second
act, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and
forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality
affects the others, but also draws on the underlying
strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the
special quality to make them truly touching, funny and
marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.

Aladdin and his
Wonderful Magical Lamp
Rockingham Community College
Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium
Wentworth, NC
Director: Jon Young
Hop on a flying carpet to
visit and sing in the exciting city of Shammar in Old Arabia!
Meet the adventurous Aladdin and his mischievous monkey,
Alakazam. Aladdin's mother and sister are at their wit's end
trying to get Aladdin to settle down. It's not easy, especially
with merchants and neighbors complaining about Aladdin's tricks.
One day Aladdin meets the beautiful Princess Jasmine and vows he
will marry her. Aladdin, however, is visited by the evil
magician, Jammal, and his wicked sister, Halima. They know that
only a boy named Aladdin can enter the mysterious cave, which
houses a strange lamp containing a genie who will grant Jammal
all the power he craves. Tricking Jammal, Aladdin claims the
magic lamp for himself and with its power, wins the princess and
impresses the Sultan by building a beautiful palace. But Jammal
isn't through with his evil ways! He regains possession of the
lamp, kidnaps Jasmine and magically transports Aladdin's new
palace to the shores of Morocco! Aladdin, in his attempt to save
Jasmine, must face Chop-Chop, the executioner and, of course,
regain possession of the lamp. Cheer the finale when Aladdin and
Jasmine are reunited and Jammal is transformed into a new
person. You'll meet not one, but three, genies, the whining Ali
"Bubba" and his umbrella, the fire-breathing dragon and the
haughty Sultan's wife. Thrilling and easy to produce, your
audience will be charmed by a host of tunes including "Aladdin,"
"Old Lamps For New," and "Abracadabra." This musical fantasy
will delight audiences of all ages. |

Children of Eden
Rockingham Community College
Advanced Technologies Building Auditorium
Wentworth, NC
From
Stephen Schwartz (“Godspell” and “Pippin”) and John Caird of
“Les Misérables” comes a joyous and inspirational musical about
parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of
unresolved family business!
Freely based on the story of Genesis, “Children Of Eden” is a
frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old
conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the
“Father” who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic
actions of their respective children. The show ultimately
delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that "the hardest
part of love... is letting go." |
